During the SwiNOG #41 meeting, we announced that SwiNOG is looking for a new logo.
SwiNOG has been around for many years. It has grown together with the Swiss Internet community and with the people who build, operate, debug, protect and improve networks every day.
Now we think it is time to refresh our visual identity — and we would like to do this together with the community.
This is not meant to be a corporate rebranding exercise done behind closed doors. SwiNOG has always been community-driven, and the new logo should reflect that: technical, independent, open, Swiss, and made by people who care about the Internet.
We are looking for ideas, not perfection
Your submission does not have to be a finished, polished, production-ready logo.
We are happy to receive all kinds of drafts and ideas:
- sketches
- rough concepts
- vector drafts
- typography ideas
- symbol ideas
- visual directions
- handwritten or drawn proposals
What matters most is the idea behind it.
The SwiNOG core team will review the submissions and may take selected ideas further together with professional designers. This means your draft may become the starting point for a refined, professionally developed SwiNOG logo.
So don’t hold back just because your idea is not ‘designer-perfect’. If you have a good concept, we would like to see it.
Please: no AI slop
We want real ideas from real people.
Please do not submit logos that are fully or mostly generated by AI tools. We are not looking for random glossy shapes, generic ‘network globe’ graphics, fake 3D gradients, or designs that look like they came straight from a prompt generator.
AI-assisted workflows are hard to police, and we are not interested in turning this into a philosophical debate. The point is simple:
We want original, thoughtful, human-created work.
Something with intent. Something with taste. Something that understands what SwiNOG is.
What makes a good SwiNOG logo?
A good SwiNOG logo should ideally be:
- simple and recognisable
- usable on the website, slides, badges, stickers and shirts
- readable in small and large formats
- connected to the spirit of the Swiss network operator community
- original and human-created
Working together
By submitting a proposal, you allow the SwiNOG core team to review it, discuss it, and potentially work with you and/or professional designers to further develop the idea into a final logo.
This may include refining, adapting, simplifying or combining ideas. The final result should be something that SwiNOG can use freely across all channels and formats.
Of course, we will treat contributions with respect and give credit where appropriate.
How to submit
Send us your logo proposal through the form on this page:
https://www.swinog.ch/newlogo/
Please include a short explanation of your idea. A few sentences are enough. Tell us what the design means, why it fits SwiNOG, and how you imagine it being used.
Thank you for helping us shape the next chapter of SwiNOG.
Keep it simple.
Keep it authentic.
Keep it community-driven.
